Dublin Mythological RoundTable®

The Dublin Mythological RoundTable® is part of the worldwide network of MRT's associated with the Joseph Campbell Foundation. The primary purpose of round tables is for people with a common interest in Joseph Campbell's books and lectures on mythology to meet up and have a chat or to collaborate on projects.

Joseph Campbell's scholarly corpus provides a blueprint for a how anthropology with all its associated disciplines: archaeology, philology, psychology etc, can be constellated around comparative mythology so as to weave a rich narrative tapestry of the emergence of humanity. This website records work carried out to this end.

Carrowkeel Megalithic Cemetery

After the films Finding Joe and Cave of Forgotten Dreams it is time to get out and about in the countryside. We plan to visit to Carrowkeel Megalithic Cemetery on the Bricklieve Mountains on the 2nd of June. While the walking is not difficult good shoes/boots are required and indeed will be mandatory for most of our trips.

Although situated not far from the mythologically famed area of Lough Arrow and Moytirra, the mysterious megalithic topped ridges of Carrowkeel find no place in Irish sagas and myths. The site is also just north-east from the caves of Keshcorran where the fleeing lovers Diarmuid and Grainne took refuge. Details now on meetup.com

meetup.com

From January 2012 the primary means of keeping in contact will be through the Mythological RoundTable®Group setup on meetup.com. We will use this to collaborate with the well established group Mythic Links who have an excellent panel of speakers and who meet at the United Arts Club in Dublin City Centre.
